Urchin Trig – Kaimanawa

I wish to be nowhere else

Braced against the cold
Boots on the barren tundra
4567 feet in the air
Small metres of visibility
Exposed broken rock
Squat stubby alpine plants
Views a white abyss of sky
Leaning into the squalls
Intermittent
2 degrees from freezing
Cold burns over the lip of Urchin
Icy in the hollow of my back

I wish to be nowhere else
Breathing – Living – Standing
