Waikuku’s not Cookoo – it’s back’n School!

Secondhand clothes, florist, hair salon, sweet shop & antiques

When the Ministry of Education deems a primary school unviable and closes it for good, what happens to the old building?

Well, in Waikuku, it has been turned into a shopping centre, still complete with school yard bike stands, four square grids and play ground.

Dexterity

The Headmaster’s office is now a cafe and the dental nurse’s building (aka murder house) is now home to a physiotherapist called Dexterity.

With so much of the character that summarises most kiwi kids school experience, this makes for a seriously nostalgic shopping experience!
